About Me

Hi – I’m Jennifer and Welcome to my first blog!

I’ll be honest with you – I have never blogged before.  I don’t even read blogs!  But circumstances arose this past year that led me here.  I had several family members / friends pass away.  I then realized how ill-prepared their loved ones were for a future without them.

The Golden Years covers the years in a person’s life as they near retirement.  These years are usually associated with leisure, relaxation and enjoying the fruits of one’s labor.  It’s a time to pursue activities that you never had the opportunity to do before.  It’s a time to travel and see countries you’ve never been before but always wanted to.  It’s a well-deserved period of rest and enjoyment after decades of employment.

While leisure and relaxation are the ideal – it also depends on how much you “planned” for this period.  Did you set yourself up for success?  Have you remained organized and made important decisions along the way?  The intent of this blog is to help you plan (and live) for your own Golden Years.

As I close in on the dreaded 5-0 this year, I want to ensure my Golden Years are full of leisure.  I did all the right things when I was younger – chose a growing major/career, saved money, invested, lived within my means.  But was that enough?  Should I have chosen a different career path?  Should I have invested differently in my 401K?

I see this blog as an opportunity to research and prepare for my retirement.  Hopefully – I can relay that wisdom to others.  My different posts will relate to specific topics / subjects that you need to plan for and make decisions about.  I won’t tell you what you need to do – but I will guide you towards questions you need to ask yourself and be ready to answer.

Thank you for reading this blog and embarking on the journey with me.
